Thursday 3rd November
Year One did some cooking with Mrs Brown. First they had to walk to the Co-op to buy all of the ingredients that they needed. Then, back at school, they got cooking. Mrs Brown taught them how to use different cooking techniques as they follwed the recipe to make yummy sweet and sour chicken.

On Thursday 6th October Year 2 walked down to the fire station. When we got there we were shown around the fire station by Stuart who told us what it was like being a fire fighter. He showed us all around the new fire engine and we even got a go at squirting the hose!  Mrs Durban dressed up as a fire fighter. We all had a great time. Thank you to Knutsford Fire Station.

September 2011

In our first assembly of the year we built a tall tower. As we built the tower we thought of great ideas about what each letter might stand for. When the tower was finished it made the word 'LEARNING'.

INTERNATIONAL WEEK

Everyone has been very busy having lots of fun and learning about other countries. Here are some of the events and activities that have been happening ...
Olympic Torch Schools Relay
Badminton player Gail Emms, who is the British Olympic
Silver Medallist, visited Manor Park on Thursday 30th June.
She brought with her an Olympic torch designed by another Knutsford school. Manor Park then passed their Olympic torch to Gail so that she could continue the relay by taking it to another school.

Other International themed activities...

A delicious taste of Italy!
Making pizza at Pizza Express.
Finding out what countries
different fruits come from.

Making a fruit smoothie using the
fruit bought from Knutsford market.

On the final day of international week all classes had an African drumming session and then an assembly where some classes performed. It was a fabulous end to a fantastic week at Manor Park School!

Wednesday 9th March
Farmer Phil came to visit the Year 2 children. He is a dairy farmer and told them all about his 50 cows.
All the children got the chance to ‘milk’ the cow. Year 2 asked Farmer Phil lots of questions about his farm and about being a farmer.

Friday 11th February – Visit from Chethams School of Music

The children in years 4, 5 and 6 were lucky enough to meet and listen to music performed by students from Chethams School of Music. They listened carefully to the students performing pieces on the cello, piano, flute, accordion and violin. Afterwards all the children were able to have a go at playing these instruments and were able to ask questions and find out more about the Chethams students and their talents. We were really pleased to have this opportunity and are hoping that Chethams may visit us again soon.

Thursday 10th February 2011- Gymnastics winners!

Four Year 2 children took part in a Key Skills gymnastics competition, at Wilmslow High School against 6 other Cheshire schools. They had to perform two gymnastic routines off by heart in front of a judge. Each routine was composed of 10-15 gymnastic skills which the children had to remember and perform in order with no errors.

Due the children’s hard work and determination they won the whole Key Skills competition aswell as receiving individual medals for their various performances. Alfie, Euan, Sophie and Amy received winners medals and a plaque which has pride of place in the school entrance. Mrs Durban was very proud of them! Well done!
