WELCOME TO YEAR 4's HOMEPAGE
That was a very short week! The children were brilliant especially on Thursday and Friday mornings when they sat their optional SATs in reading and writing - I'm now in the process of marking these and so far I am really pleased with their results.
Our Tudor studies are proving to be very popular - last week we looked at how we know so much about the Tudors (particularly rich Tudors) and one of the things we examined was inventories - fascinating but impossible to read - thank goodness we had some translations! ICT also continues to be very popular - we are using Logo as an introduction to programming software.
This week we will be looking over what we have done in Maths during the year, Mrs Benson will be teaching on Tuesday and Wednesday morning when she is planning to do lots of RE as well as the usual Mental Maths. We will continue looking at friction in science - if anyone has a ski I could borrow for Monday afternoon, that would be very useful and if any of the children ride their bike to school, I'd like to look at that too. We'll do some more work on the Tudors and we'll also be doing lots of ICT. Please make sure your child has the appropriate kit for PE on Tuesday and Friday afternoons - particularly their trainers!
Below is the homework schedule. I am now giving out the weekly spelling homework on Friday mornings for the test the following Friday. Spelling sheets need to be in on Friday mornings and all other homework needs to be returned on Tuesday morning with the weekly tables test on Wednesday mornings. Thank you!
||Friday (test day)|
||Tuesday (unless this is topic work)|
As always, please pop in and see me if you have any queries.
Message from Mrs Riddell
The Book Exchange Extravaganza is going brilliantly!
Thank you to everyone who has donated their quality used books. Well done for bringing in a £1, you never know, there may be a book for sale that catches your eye.
Remember you can bring the book in at any point in the week, but the exchange takes place at Friday lunchtime..... So bring your money if you'd like a book!
