Class 1
Continuing the Learning Journey
In Year 1 our children continue to learn through play, building on their experiences in Reception. as well as developing more formal ways of learning. The Curriculum is designed to take into consideration personal learning styles and interests whilst delivering the National Curriculum.
Reading
Children are expected to read at home everyday and bring their reading book and reading log to school daily. Please try to make this an enjoyable activity for your child as it will impact on their attitude to books. The children are heard in school regularly by a variety of adults. We also do Guided Reading in school which is done in groups so your child may not always have a comment in their diary.
Writing
Please encourage your child to write for different purposes eg cards and letters. Forming letters and numbers correctlyis an important skill which children need in order to access the curriculum. We have a range of resources that you can use to help your child to write correctly- if you need any help please come in and chat.
Homework
Your child has a homework book which will come home weekly with tasks for them to complete. This is in addition to the tasks shown on the homework page for them to select from.
P.E.
P.E. kits must be in school, children will need both an indoor and outdoor named kit .
Please put your child's name in all their clothing.
