Welcome to our Governors' Page. We are fortunate at Farndon to have a dedicated team of governors who endeavour to to their best for our school. Below you will find a short biography for each of our governors.

Mike Shearman, Chair

Managing Director of Sira, a local employer of 60 people involved in product certification, test and safety assessment based in Eccleston, Chester. Has been part of the Governing body since 2002 and is Chair of the Finance committee.  Mike is also a member of FarndonFest 2010 team, volunteer helper at Farndon Scouts and coaches Under 12 Rugby at Chester Rugby club.

Toby Edwards.
Toby has been a parent governor at Farndon School for approx  four and a  half years.
He lives in Churton and has been in the Farndon area since 1998 when he moved here after living in London for eighteen years. Prior to that he was living in Ayrshire, Scotland.
His interests are music, (he plays bass in a local band-The Shivers), hillwalking and, more recently, cycling.
Toby works for the NHS in Central and Eastern Cheshire and his son William,attends Farndon school.
He greatly enjoys being a school governor and thinks it is wonderful being able to give something back  to the school and the community. He recognises these are difficult times for public services, and for education in particular and says that being a governor gives a fascinating insight into the challenges that face the Head and her staff.


Julie Perry, Vice Chair & Chair of the Teaching & Learning Committee
 Julie is a parent governor with an interest in the IT curriculum and has been a Governor for approximately 2 years. She spent the majority of her childhood in Farndon attending Farndon school and returned to live in the village 12 years ago
Julie has one child at Farndon School and one that has graduated to Bishop Heber!
Julie works for a Cheshire based IT Company and she enjoys cycling and generally trying to get fit also getting involved within all aspects of the community.


Carol Weaver
Carol is married, with two grown-up sons and three grand-children, I have been a Parish Councillor for over 20 years serving on both Broxton & District Parish Council and Tattenhall & District Parish Council.  In November 2007 I was selected to become a Local Authority Governor here at the school.   Currently I am on the Teaching and Learning sub-committee and am the governor for children with Special Educational Needs.


Mark Pridding
Mark is a Parent Governor joining the body in March 2010.
Professionally Mark works for Marsh, a global insurance broker, and has a specific specialism in the education sector providing advice on insurance and risk prevention to colleges of further education, schools and academies.Mark currently has two children attending Farndon Primary School.


Jennie Cottier 
Jennie is one of the newest appointed Governors to the school. She has been associated with Farndon since her eldest started school in reception he has now reached year six, her youngest is in year three, they both love school and have thrived here. She runs her own business so knows what life is like juggling a busy work life with children and homework.Jennie has a keen interest in the smooth running of the school and the health and well being of staff and pupils.


Jason Palgrave-Jones
Jason was born and raised in Cheshire, now living in the village of Rossett. He is married to Diane, with two children James & Anna.  
He is a keen sailor (RYA Yacht Skipper & member of Chester Sailing Club), a keen field sports enthusiast, and enjoys cooking & wine (sometimes more wine than cooking!)  
Currently working as General Manager - Sales & Marketing for Home Retail Group at Argos & Homebase head office in Milton Keynes.  He also runs a Cheshire based event management company, The Chester Treasure Hunt Company.
His previous positions were Associate Director & Director positions with Bank of Scotland, CIML & Accor Services Group, (banking, hospitality, food & beverage, service & retail sectors).  
Jason says his motivation to join the school governors was simple.   
After seeing how engaged & enthusiastic his son was by his new school environment, he felt compelled to put something back into the local community and further support the school and its staff he continues that being a governor has its own challenges, investment in time, responsibility for budgets & making some difficult decisions; to name a few. Even with these challenges it’s very rewarding.  


Fiona Henderson
Fiona has lived in Farndon for 6 years having previously lived in Chester
and Cambridge working in the Financial sector.  Prior to that Fiona lived in
She has only recently become a Local Authority Governor at
Farndon although she supports many local groups including the Farndon Fest
and the Parish Council.
She self employed running a small business in Farndon.
When approached about becoming a governor Fiona was keen to get involved as
she likes living in Farndon and feels it is such a nice place to live
because people do get involved to help and support the community.


Neal Cole
Neal and his family have lived in the Holt and Wrexham area for the past 7 years working as a Market Research Manager in Financial Services.
Prior to this Neal lived in York for over 10 years and worked for the insurance company AVIVA. Neal recently joined the retailing group Shop Direct as a Financial Services Manager.He enjoys skiing, cycling, gardening and visiting historic buildings with family. He is a member of the National Trust and also has family membership for Chester Zoo.  
Neal doesn’t like DIY but under protest he has been known to attempt a few jobs around the house.
Neal has two daughters at Farndon in Year 2 and Year 5. He decided to    become a parent governor due to a  desire to contribute constructively to the local community and offer his support and expertise to the school and staff.
