Welcome to Year 4!
Wow what a great start to the year!! You have been really enjoying our topic "Dear Diary" which is all about World War 2. We have been learning about the lives of the children in the war and those who stayed at home. You have made mini Anderson shelters and have made power point presentations on evacuation. You have also written diaries and letters as evacuees as well as thinking what you would take with you if you were evacuated.
This half term we will be looking at how the war affected everyday life, including rationing and "Dig for Victory" propaganda posters.
In literacy, we have been writing short stories set in World War 2 which we will continue this half term. We will then move onto poems and plays which will be lots of fun!
In maths we will continue to work on our times tables, we have learned the 6 times table so it is really important that you practice this at home. We will be looking at measures and solving various problems using different ways to show our data.
We will also be learning about habitats as part of our science work.
This half-term PE has changed to a Tuesday afternoon so please bring in your PE kits on a Monday so you have both an indoor and outdoor (including pumps or trainers) P.E. kit labelled with your name for the week.
You have made a good start in your music lessons, these will continue to be every Thursday afternoon so please remember to bring in your violins and cellos before Thursday.
Homework will be set every Friday to be in by the following Thursday morning. Please read at home every night as well!
