Growing and Moving
This half term we are going to pretend that Summer's on the way and get outside to do some gardening, hopefully this will make the sun really come out!
We are going to be looking at stories about Percy the Park Keeper and make our own park. It's a busy time of year for Percy so we are going to be helping him out with some of his jobs.
We are going to be planting our own seeds and finding out what they need to grow. We are also going to be looking at different plants and finding similarities and differences and measuring their sizes.
There are lots of animals living in Percy's park and we will be finding out how they move.
Reception are going to be working on counting in groups of 2 and 10 and having a go at doubling and halving some numbers. We are also going to be working really hard on writing our sentences and remembering our sentence rules:
1. Start with a capital letter.
2. Leave a space between words.
3. Finish with a full stop.
Don't forget to keep up with the reading too, last term's reading challenge was a big success and it was fantastic to see how much progress the children are making!
Chirk Castle Reception are going to visit Chirk Castle on Friday 14th June to learn about life in a castle in the past. Please makesure the permission slips and Form Cs are returned to Miss Littler as soon as possible.
September's Reception Children I know most of you with children in Nursery are now in the process of accepting your child's Reception class place. We will be in touch in May once our final list is confirmed but to give you a date for your diary, Miss Littler will be holding a meeting for parents on Tuesday 18th June at 10am. Here you will be given all the information you need about your child's move into Reception and to ask some of the hundreds of questions you will probably have!
WOW! Books
The children all have their WOW! books to take home and use them to record things that they do outside of school or want to share with us. We don't expect you to add things to the books everyday but if you could add something each week that would be great. The children really enjoy sharing them with us and it is a big help to us in finding out what the children are doing at home so we can ensure we are sharing those interests in school. If you have any questions about the books please come and ask. Even if the children haven't added anything new to their book we would appreciate it if they could bring their book and book bag to school each day so that we can add information to them as well.
Tricky Word Key Rings
The children have all really enjoyed having their key rings and we can already see a difference in their reading and that they have been using them at home. We have added some new words on to most key rings this week but unfortunately some children have not had their book bags and key rings in school and we have not been able to add the new words. Please can all of the children bring in their book bags everyday as we use them in school when we do reading activities.
If you have any questions about reading or the tricky words please come and see Miss Littler or Mrs Bond as soon as possible.
