Church and School
St Francis School is conducted in accordance with the principles of the Church of England. Worship and religious teaching, based on a syllabus of religious education adopted by the Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education, are important aspects of our curriculum.
We are proud of the close links that we have with our church. Services are held on special occasions either in St Francis Church or in the school and parents are always cordially invited to attend with their children. We attend family worship at St Francis on the second Sunday of every month, where the school flag is carried along with all the uniformed groups. School is responsible and leads the Harvest, Education Sunday and Leavers Service in church.
St Francis Church also offers a Wednesday evening ‘Family Praise Service’ which is run by the Chairman of Governors – Mrs P Rushton. This service is very much geared to those families who find it difficult to attend Sunday Services and is a very interactive, fun and Child friendly service.
An act of collective worship takes place each day. The Vicar comes into school regularly and during the year the children attend church for special services. Your child will be expected to participate on these occasions.
Pastoral Care
The welfare and happiness of the children is of paramount importance. Our school has always been considered as an extension of the family unit. We aim to provide an environment in which the “whole” child can develop and thrive. All staff are responsible for the pastoral care of the children. |
