ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS
Children are enrolled in the September of the school year in which they reach their 5th birthday.
Application for admission to Brierley must be made centrally by application to the local authority.
Local Authority admission forms will be sent out to parents in September prior to children starting school the following September. The forms should be returned to the LA by the end of January.
If the school is oversubscribed with applications for admission, then the following order of priorities will apply :
1. Children with brothers or sisters in the school at the date of entry
2. Children living nearest to the school
The local authority will determine the allocation of places, based on these priorities, according to a central admissions procedure.
Any family refused admission does have a right to appeal to the local authority.
An induction meeting is offered to parents in the summer term before children start school. This is an opportunity to meet the staff and other parents and to find out everything you need to know about the life of the school and preparing your child for their first year.
RISING 5s
Children starting school in September are invited to visit us in the Summer term. We also run a ‘rising 5s’ group two afternoons a week throughout the school year. This gives children the opportunity to become very familiar with the school before joining the reception class and also offers an excellent, play based curriculum. The group is run by two very experienced members of staff; there’s lots of learning and lots of fun - great preparation for life in the reception class. |
