Stanley School

Stanley School > Curriculum > R.E.

Religious Education plays a very important role at Stanley School since every pupil has a statutory entitlement to religious education. Religion has a very significant place in the modern world and plays an important part in our society and in our smaller communities. It helps to shape our values and beliefs.

A wide variety of major world faiths are taught at Stanley School including Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam and Buddhism. Much of the teaching is based around traditional stories from different faiths and from this the children learn about people and lifestyles from cultures different from their own and how people celebrate special occasions in different ways. The children will be encouraged to think about their own beliefs and their own values and relate these to the communities to which they belong.

Here comes summer!

The focus for this term across the key stages will be 'Our Planet'
We will spend some time looking at how our world was created and perhaps even more importantly, why it's our duty to look after such a wonderful creation.

We will be looking at some well known bible stories from the Old Testament and also thinking about special people - those who look after us
and care for us.
