Irby Primary School > Healthy Eating
Welcome to our Irby Primary
Healthy Schools Page!!

At Irby Primary we think it is very important to be healthy. We try to do this by eating the right type of food and by doing lots of exercise.

Exercise!
We are very active here at Irby -
just look at our Sports page!

Golden Time

Lots of our Golden Time activities include fun and active choices. Including football, hockey, rounders, basketball, tennis, adventuure playground, races and ball games.

Food!
Lots of the children in our school bring packed lunches. Our Year 6 worked with Mr Rhodes from Wirral Healthy Schools to think of tasty, healthy packed lunch ideas.
Here are some of their ideas...

The School Council did a lunchbox audit in March 2010 and again in March 2011. This time our lunchboxes were much healthier with less people bringing sugary snacks and crisps and more people bringing fruit and vegetables! Well done everyone!

Lunchbox Pledge

Whilst it is your decision what goes inside your lunchbox, at Irby Primary school we have a lunchbox pledge! The lunchbox pledge was developed by the school council and encourages healthy eating. If you follow the pledge your lunches will help you to become healthier!

Let's get Cooking!

Last Year Mrs McHale and Mrs Houghton started a new club - Let's Get Cooking! Parents and children worked together to create tasty and healthy food! The club returned in Spring Term 2011 with families from Red, Orange and Green Class taking part!

The children worked with their parents to make...

Crunchy Herby Chicken and Root Vegetables
Chicken, Leek and Mushroom Bake
Sweedish Meatballs and Potato Wedges
Pizza and Stuffed Potato Skins

Let's Get Cooking will begin again soon for
Red, Orange and Green Classes.
Send your form back as soon as possible to secure a place!
