Our Carbon Footprint by Junior Energy Monitors – Krysty and Melissa
Too much carbon dioxide upsets the earth’s natural balance which is harmful to plants, animals and even people! Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas.
When created naturally it helps to keep the earth warm enough for us to live, but doing things which increase carbon levels is harmful to our planet. If we watch how much carbon we produce and try to produce less we can help the earth.
Using a carbon calculator we can see and monitor how much carbon our school uses. We counted up the electrical equipment in our school and entered the values into a Carbon Calculator to calculate the amount of carbon our school generates!
This is a list of the equipment we have in school:
Desktop PC = 45
Laptops = 30
Monitors = 45
Projector = 11
Photocopiers = 4
Fax = 1
Printers = 14
Whiteboard = 10
T.V = 5
Scanners = 1
Router = 2
Server = 2
116.5 x = 23.6 x = £282.76
We will be monitoring our Carbon Footprint to see if we can reduce it – check our notice board in the library for updates!
