Curriculum
Catholic values and beliefs are lived and expressed within the school in all subjects.
The school aims to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, to include all aspects of a child’s learning. We seek to achieve the highest possible standards in all areas of school life.
Religious Education is a core subject at Mount Carmel. The National Curriculum requires that the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and I.C.T., together with the foundation subjects of Technology, History, Geography, Art, P.E. and Music be included in the curriculum.
Children learn to develop their social and relationship skills and a healthy lifestyle through P.S.H.E. (Personal, Social and Health Education) activities.
Programmes of study are planned to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum focusing on the National Numeracy and Literacy strategies and include the on-going assessment in all areas of the curriculum. Children are formally assessed at the end of Key Stage 1 (Year 2) and Key Stage 2 (Year 6).
