Not long now year 2's until our trip to: BEESTON Our new topic for this half term is: We will be: researching William the Conqueror; Looking at different types of castles; Creating our own battle scene; Learning about attacking and defending castles; Building our own junk model castles; Designing a coat of arms; Making a flag and shield. We will also be looking at staying healthy. To do this, we will: Discuss the meaning of healthy, unhealthy and hygiene; Talk about ways of staying fit; Looking at the different food groups; Designing a healthy meal Designing and making a healthy snack.
This is our WALT, Big Percy! Big Percy helps us to remember What we Are Learning Today. He will sometimes come to your house for you to look after. He will have his own adventure book where you can write about all the wonderful adventures you have been on. Remember...he loves bamboo! Your child has the opportunity to change their reading book each day. Every time they read to somebody at home they will receive a stamp in their reading record. Once they have collected 30 stamps they will receive a bronze certificate. To receive a silver certificate they need 40 stamps and to receive the gold certificate they need to have read 50 times at home...this is a big challenge but I am sure they will be aiming for gold! We have Gymnastics on a Wednesday morning and dance on a Tuesday afternoon. The children will not wear pumps for gymnastics or dance. The children will no need to bring in jogging bottoms and a jumper for this term as all PE will be inside. All children need to have a water bottle in the classroom so that they can have a drink throughout our busy lessons.
