Bridgemere CE Primary School > Class 2

 Welcome to Class 2!

This Spring term we welcome Mrs Wilcox. She will be helping us in class while Miss Taylor has her baby.

So far this term we have been busy reading fairy tales and investigating their common features. We have acted out stories, made puppets and used the ipad to film our own fairy tale!

Now we are taking a closer look at the Three Little Pigs story and exploring whether the wolf was a villan or just a little misunderstood.

Running alongside, this we are identifing 3D shapes used in houses and exploring why houses are built from certain materials.

Our music is be based on Peter and the Wolf and our RE focus is Forgiveness.

We really do have an exciting investigative term planned and you are welcome to view some of our activities in the Gallery.

General Information

SHOW AND TELL - Show and Tell is on a Friday morning after Big Write. The children are responsible for anything brought into school so are encouraged to leave anything expensive/super special at home.

PE - these lessons are now held on a Tuesday and Thursday. Year 2's Thursday PE is swimming and Year 1's PE is Football/Gymnastic ( Weather will dictate)

READING - all children are asked to read at least 3x a week at home. This could be with parent/s, siblings, friends or someone you know. Children can read a school book, comic, webpage, library book or anything. Any home reading needs to be recorded in the Reading Diary and children recieve a sticker if they have met their target. If children collect a sticker every week they will be entered into a draw to win a prize!

HOMEWORK

In order to keep homework managable, spelling and maths homework will be set on alternating Fridays. i.e one week it will be spellings and the next week maths. It is vital that homework books are brought into school on Thursdays as they will be marked and new work will be glued in on this day.

Projects- at times children maybe set a little practical project to do at home. These mini projects are optional so please don't feel that you must do them.

We have lots of great activities planned for this term and hope our children enjoy learning, exploring and investigating.

If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me so that any issue can be resolved quickly and effectively.
