Hello and thanks for dropping by to the pages of the School Governing Body.
Through our pages we have the opportunity to let you know what we do, why we do it and who we are. I am also hoping that we can demystify it for you so it’s not all in jargon and school talk but actually makes sense to everyone.
What is the point of having a Governing Body for the school?
The best place to understand the role of the Governing Body and the individual responsibilities within is at The Department for Education's web site. In short though our Governors come from different parts of the community to ensure a wide range of interests and experiences are represented. We have a number of duties, powers and responsibilities all with the goal of promoting high standards of educational achievement.
How often do you get together?
We sit as a full group once a term to review and challenge the school’s progress and then split off into smaller Committees to discuss more detailed matters as the need arises.
Committees ? What do they look at ?
We have two key committees as well as pulling different Governors together to deal with less frequent circumstances as required.
1. Buildings/Premises, Finance, Health and Safety
2. Curriculum and Staffing
Some of us also have specific responsibilities
Who is in the Governing Body, what Committees are they involved with and who has specific responsibilities?
The Committee structure is reviewed annually at the Autumn Term meeting - last refreshed on the 20th November 2012 at the Full Governing Body meeting.

So that's us.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to grab one of us or get in contact via the school the office. There are also a few photos of us up near the Reception Classroom too so we're easier to spot.
Thanks,
Paul Morris
