Welcome to Miss Charnock's very exciting Music page!

music

Our children at Walmsley are very lucky to have a whole range of musical clubs to attend.

In addition to a music lesson with Mrs Hitchen once a week, our Infant children have the opportunity to join Musicaliti, which is an after school club run by Mrs Frances Turnbull.  Musicaliti is every Tuesday straight from school (3.30pm - 4.30pm) in Mr McGlashan's classroom.  Please ask Mrs Crowther, our school secretary, for more information.

For the Junior children to display their musical prowess we have the school orchestra and the school choir.  In addition, there is our forthcoming musical, Beauty and the Beast, and all our Junior children have the opportunity to take part in our  "Big Sing" on Friday afternoons.  For our musicians, the "Big Sing" is an opportunity to 'show off' their talents.

School Orchestra

The school orchestra is held every Tuesday morning (8:00am - 8:45am) in the school hall.  The school orchestra is open to any child from Years 4, 5 and 6 who play a musical instrument.  Below are a few photographs of our very talented members.  Mrs Murphy interviewed some of the Orchestra members and have included their comments.

"Orchestra is a fun place to learn new songs and a great opportunity to practice your instrument."  Adam Rowley and Matthew Holmes (Year 4)

"Orchestra is a challenge when learning new pieces of music.  We do have a laugh when we get lost during a piece of music (myself and Mrs Murphy!!)  Once I know a piece of music it is fun playing it through from start to finish."  Katie Riggs (Year 3/4)

"I really enjoy learning new pieces of music."  Alex Aldred (Year 5)
