The children in School Council work hard throughout the year to put forward the voice of the children in school.
A meeting is held each Friday to give children the opportunity to share ideas and discuss whole school initiatives. Along with feedback from the children in each class, School Council members organise and advertise a variety of fundraising events and development opportunities for our school.
Last year, the children in School Council raised a great deal of money for the ‘Jeans for Genes’ organisation, the ‘Cancer Research UK’ charity and also the ‘Red Nose Day’ appeal.
School Council members also arranged a very successful ‘Swap Day’, where Year 6 children were assigned positions within school to help them develop awareness of roles and responsibilities. The day was enjoyed by all, with Year 6 children taking over roles which included everything from caretaking staff to teachers and even becoming the headteacher for the day.
School Council are always looking at new initiatives so if you have any ideas, please let us know!
