 Building Learning Powers
All of us at Dawpool (staff and children) have been looking at what it takes to be a good learner. We have adopted the ideas of Guy Claxton who refers to the skills we need as learning powers.
These powers are split into 4 main areas:
Reciprocity, Resourcefulness, Resilience and Reflectiveness.
Each week in school we identify children that have been utilising and developing these skills and they are presented with our "Learning Hero Certificates " at our celebration assembly.

Visit from the Police
This year we were fortunate to have a visit to the school from representatives from Heswall police station.
The main issues addressed were e-safety, safety in the park and careers in the police force. Particular attention was paid to the attributes/ learning powers needed to become a police officer.

Charitable Work
Rock of Joy Trust
Mrs Christine Blair came to visit us from the Rock Of Joy Trust
who are working with schools in Uganda
to help give children a better education.
Since Mrs Blairs first visit we have raised enough money to build a new toilet block for the school. We are continuing to fund raise and we look forward to Mrs Blair's future visits to hear what a difference our fund raising has made.
Click here to go to their website and see for yourself what work they are doing.
