INTERNATIONAL PRIMARY CURRICULUM
Our topic this term is about Chocolate.
We'll be learning about how and where it grows, about healthy eating, and we'll be using our I.T. and D.T. skills at West Wirral Works to make a chocolate mould and wrapper. When you come back to school you'll be able to use your mould to make your own bar of chocolate - of course, as you can imagine, that's usually the least favourite part of the topic!

THE AZTECS
After half term, we'll investigate the Aztecs and their link with chocolate.
Can you find out what this picture means? It is an eagle perched on a cactus, growing in an island in the middle of a lake.
Do you know when the Aztecs lived?
Was it 2000 years ago...1000 years ago...or 500 years ago? Find out the answer and much more about the amazing Aztecs by clicking here.

ART/D.T.
This term some of our art will be linked to the Aztecs... making masks and 'gold' ornaments. The masks are made from papier mache - lots of fun but very messy, so you'll need to wear an old T shirt for this!
We'll be making making tangrams, too. A tangram is a Chinese puzzle consisting of a square divided into seven pieces that must be arranged to make particular designs.

P.E.
During the Autumn term, our PE activities will include Invasion Games (such as football, hockey, tag rugby and benchball), and gymnastics.
You will need your kit in school on Mondays and Wednesdays; when the weather becomes colder remember to bring in jogging bottoms and a warm top.
CYCLING PROFICIENCY
If you have signed up for cycling, this will take place on September 27th and October 4th. It will be in school time, not after school. Please make sure that your bike works properly- especially the brakes-and is the right height. Your feet should be able to touch the floor when you sit on the saddle. Also make sure that your helmet fits.
Finally remember to bring a waterproof jacket or tracksuit, as you will still go out if it's raining!
