Our topic this half term is...
In Literacy we will be reading the story of Jack and the Flumflum Tree. We will be studying Jack's journey and writing a recount of how he gets the precious flumflum fruit. We will then write our own adventure stories. At the end of the half term, we will be writing information texts about how to care for plants and trees.

In Science we will be learning about floating and sinking. The children will investigate which materials float or sink before using this knowledge to design their own boat for Jack that will float. They will then plan their own investigation to test whether the boat will float or not.
In Art we will be studying and designing our own sand sculptures. We will then build these sand sculptures when we go on our trip to the seaside.
In Design and Technology we will be designing and weaving withy boats.
In Geography we will be learning about maps and how they help us to follow a route.
In Music we will be using different percussion instruments to create a sound story for the book.
The children will also be using a drawing program to create their own pictures for their map of Jack's journey as well as experimenting with different effects they can use on pictures.
