The Fallibroome Academy > Curriculum > Design and Technology > CAD / CAM

Students will study Computer Aided Design and Manufacture for 14 lessons. They will develop computer aided drawing skills using the Techsoft 2D designer software package to design a 'free gift'. They will then use the laser cutter to make the product. Students will work in teams of four and develop and make their agreed outcome. They all make a holder for a product, toothbrush, flower, mobile phone, posted notes or soap. Once the design is drawn and cut out on the laser cutter, students smooth and polish their plastic and then use the strip heater to bend their design to become 3D.

We will discuss the importance of how CAD/CAM has change the world of work and see alternative making skills. Students will build on these skills though Resistant Materials in years 8 and 9.
