Friday 17th May 2013
This week we have administered the end of Year 6 SATs. I have to praise the attitude of the children who have behaved brilliantly throughout the week and have managed to come into school on time, ready and eager to get on with the SATs without any fuss at all. The enticement of bacon butties, toast and a drink may have been a great incentive but even so they were great. My thanks also go to Debbie, Mr Smith, Ms Terry and Mrs Barlow for their support in making the butties and serving and making sure that there was a bacon butty left over for me to have.
Year 4 have been out to Owley Woods discovering various habitats as part of their wellie project, a trip that they thoroughly enjoyed and got an awful lot out of it. My thanks go to Miss Bewers and Mrs Mahon for planning this activity.
Celebration assembly saw many awards given out this week. The theme for this week has been “never give up”.
Star Pupil Awards were given to: Faith, Dylan, Kieran, Kira, Cori, Stephany, Connor, Leah, Tegan, Kyle, Leah, Ryan, Cody, Liam and Angel.
Pupil Choices were: Bailey, Shannon, Seren, Joshua, Caitlin and Oliver
Monitor Awards were given to Hollie, Dylan, Lily-Mae and Liam
and the Courtesy Cup was presented to Classes 4 and 6 for their great resilience and attitude to learning this week.
Next week will see the Year 3, 4 and 5 children completing their end of year assessments. We are having a visit from the Department for Education next week as well as part of the forced academy agenda. Representatives from our Sponsors will accompany the DfE, along with the chair of Governors.
Friday next week is the end of the first half term. School will be closed from 3:00pm 24th May and we will be back open again on the 3rd June 2013 at the normal time.
