The English Department is driven by dedicated and enthusiastic teaching and support staff who are committed to raising literacy standards and helping students to realise and achieve their potential.
In order to succeed, students at Key Stage 3 are being taught through the innovative Integrated Curriculum – a curriculum which is literacy driven and incorporates the humanities subjects. At Key Stage 4, pupils follow the WJEC programme for their GCSE examinations.
They study both language and literature, and have the opportunity to study both aspects of English at A Level in the Academy’s new Sixth Form centre.
Across all Key Stages, pupils are encouraged to work collaboratively and independently, developing skills which they can transfer to all aspects of their lives.
