The Fallibroome Academy > Curriculum > Business Studies

GCSE Business studies introduces students to the business world. In Year 10 students look at entrepreneurship and the key steps involved in setting up a small business, such as planning, marketing, gaining finance, setting up operations and recruiting new staff. In Year 11 the focus switches to how businesses grow. Students learn about the challenges faced by business as they look to expand.

Business Studies is an excellent basis for students to develop their understanding of the world of work. This knowledge can be a useful tool in whatever field of study or employment students wish to pursue. The AS level course is taught over two units in Year 12. These units cover a wide range of contemporary business issues including planning and financing a new business venture, managing organisations and change effectively, as well as business strategy. At A2 students draw on their knowledge from AS and look at topic areas related to the core themes of setting objectives, measuring performance and devising strategy.
