 Welcome to Mrs Mitchell's
Homepage

Welcome to the start of our Summer term - we hope you all enjoyed your Easter holidays and you're ready for the last term of the year.

We will be spending the Summer Term following a History theme all about the Tudors with a focus on Henry VIII and his marriages. The children will place the Tudors on a timeline of Britain's’ history, make deductions from portraits, find out about the work of a Tudor monarch and learn the story of Henry VIII’s life in order to argue whether Henry VIII made a good or bad king.

Once more our topic will connect with other subjects across the curriculum including Literacy, Art, DT and Music.

During the course of the term, the children will study different forms of poetry, write adventure stories, learn the art of persuasive writing and write and perform play scripts.

The children will continue to be set for Numeracy according to their abilities and year group. We will continue to look at number, number operations, shape, measure, handling data and in particular, applying the skills they have acquired to solve problems. Please continue to support your child with maths homework and in learning their times tables.

With the warmer weather upon us, the children will have more opportunity to make use of our vast grounds in our habitat and light and shadow topics. This half term we are fortunate to have visitors from Cheshire Woodland Trust to work with the children to explore life in our pond and woodland habitats.

This half term the children will be focusing on Hinduism, particularly Hindu Gods and how Hindus worship at home. They will compare this to the Christian idea of God and how Christans worship.

We apologise for the unforeseen circumstances regarding the closure of Chester Baths. Parents will be notified shortly of the swimming arrangements for the remainder of the term.  Please ensure PE kits are returned to school following the Easter break. We look forward to making the most of the British summer weather with athletics, rounders and Tudor dancing.
PE kit should ALWAYS be in school during the week as the children will continue with outdoor PE and cross-country.

The children will continue to use to use ICT effectively across the curriculum including gathering information about habitats and the Tudors. They will also develop new skills in PowerPoint animation and create branching data bases.
