English / Literacy (Speaking and
listening, reading and writing)
|
This term the children will
be writing non-chronological reports where they will learn how to structure
their work, including an introduction and subheadings. Their story this time
will be writing a Horrid Henry tale entitled ‘Horrid Henry and the school
trip’. We will be focusing descriptive on language, adjectives and adverbs,
as well as writing a concise for their final piece. In the last half term the
children will be exploring nonsense poetry, including riddles and tongue
twisters. The children will read, write and perform poetry.

Mathematics
|
At the beginning of the
term children will be using their bonds to10 knowledge to add to the next ten
or 100. In terms of number they will also be halving 2 or 3 digit numbers. In
‘Shape and Measure’children will learn to measure capacity in ml and l and
compare the volume of liquid held in two beakers. They will revise analogue
clock times and begin to read the digital clock as well as learning to read
and use tables.

Science
|
During the term the
children will be learning about plants, what plants need to survive and grow
and how to grow grass from seeds and bean roots. The children will also learn
about the lifecycles of insects.

I.C.T.
|
In the first half term the
children will use the computer to ask and answer questions, searching for
information on CDs and the internet.
In the second half term the
children will develop their word processing skills.

R.E.
|
In the first half term the
children will learn Jewish stories. They will learn about Moses, the Torah
and that Jewish people belief that God is the
creator.
In the second half term the
children will learn about Jesus as a storyteller.

Geography
|
The children will be comparing
gardens in different countries and thinking about the different foods grown
across the World. We will also studying the school and the local area. They
will produce maps and plans, compare and contrast the human and physical
features of Prestbury
Village will other
places in the world.

Art and Design
|
This term the children will
use used mixed media to create a range of pictures based on the topic of plants
and animals.
|
|
Technology
|
The children will design
and make a pop-up book.
|
|
Music
|
This term the children will
create compositions based on a summer theme and will be singing and playing
percussion instruments.
|
|
P.E.
|
During this term the
children will be taught ball skills and will be encouraged to make their own
games up.
|
|
PHSCE
|
The children will discuss global
issues including pollution, endangered animals and sustainability.
