Spring Term Topics

 What A Load of Rubbish!

This term our project is based an environmental study. So far we have walked around the estate and found 2 LITTER HOTSPOTS! 1) The shops on Twickenham Drive and the playing field at the end of twickenham Drive.

The two main types of litter were food and sweet wrappers and dog dirt -yuk!!

School Playing Field Walk

When we walked around the schoolplaying field, we found that there had been a lot of tipping around the edges.

Here is a list of what we found:
  • a fridge freezer
  • a couch
  • a water tank
  • road work signs and barriers
  • large children's toys
  • old christmas trees and cut down branches from trees.
Also there was a lot of litter!

The Class Vote

We had a vote about which sort of litter we wanted to sort out. This is the result.

Dog Dirt on the footpaths  3  3
Sweet Wrappers, Chewing Gum and Cigarette ends 1  1

Campaign Plan

1) We are going to drop leaflets to the houses that surround the playing field.
2) We are going to put posters outside the scholl and in the local shops.
3) We are going to write a letter to Leasowe Community Homes to help stop this problem.

On Tuesday 28th February we walked around the roads that back onto the playing field and found that there are 71 houses.

Over the next three weeks, we designed our leaflets and posters for the Castleway Clean Up Campaign. We also wrote letters to Leasowe Community Homes.

Finally, on Thursday 29th March, we delivered our leaflets to the houses around the school field.

Lets hope that our campaign is a success.
