Welcome To Our School

Thank you for visiting our school's VLE - we hope you find it interesting and informative!

Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to all visitors to our new Black Horse Hill Junior School VLE homepage.

Our VLE is another exciting opportunity to be able to show all members of our school community what a caring, friendly, exciting, imaginative and challenging place of learning Black Horse Hill Junior School is!

Visitors to our school regularly comment on the lovely 'feel' the school has and this is real credit to our pupils who know they are part of our 'great big family' and treat each other accordingly. They proudly say we are a 'Bully Free Zone' and work extremely hard to ensure the school is just that. Any problems are quickly sorted out and often without the need for staff to intervene.

Pupils also work tremendously hard in lessons and achievement and effort are valued equally alongside actual attainment. They know what they can do but also know what they need to do to be their very best and they seem to do this with a big smile on their faces - well nearly always anyway! The creativity of their curriculum has also been praised by Ofsted and their engagement with it is a true sign of their support for our school motto, that we are .. 'Learning to Learn and Learning to Live'

To achieve this, I am continually grateful for and inspired by the excellence, experience and commitment shown by our fantastic school staff teams - the teachers and teaching assistants, our administrative and office staff, our caretaking and cleaning staff and our kitchen team - all of whom provide our pupils with a range of rich opportunities to learn and develop as people whilst they work in school.

As Headteacher, I am also fortunate that our governing and parent bodies are also such wonderful assets and supporters of our school. We have a thriving PTA and Parent Council who do much to ensure the children's experiences at school are so positive and if you are a new or prospective parent we would be delighted to welcome you onto these groups.

I do hope that you enjoy your time visiting the VLE and would welcome you to school in person if you would like to see us 'in action'. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

Best wishes,

Harry Kennedy, Headteacher
