Art Therapy at Capenhurst Grange School
Susanna Coan and Roger Bloomfield are qualified art psychotherapists registered with the Health Professions Council.
We offer one to one and group therapy sessions for pupils on a weekly basis at Brook Lodge, within the school grounds. Art therapy gives pupils an opportunity to explore difficulties of an emotional or psychological nature with the support and encouragement of a trained therapist. The sessions are confidential.
Pupils are able to express themselves through imagery and objects made during the session as well as through talking. Art therapy can help a pupil who:
- Is experiencing depression and anxiety symptoms
- Is struggling with life events such as change in family structure, bereavement or illness
- Has suffered abuse, bullying or trauma
- Has a low self-esteem/self-image
We work closely with teaching staff and liase with Educational Psychologists and outside agencies including CAMHS and Children’s Services where appropriate.
The art therapy service is able to consider referrals from other schools in Cheshire. Please contact us for further details.
