Irby Primary

Irby Primary School > Creative

At Irby Primary School we pride ourselves in providing a broad and balanced curriculum, this includes teaching all the arts, i.e. art, dance, drama and music.  We have recently been awarded the Arts Mark award in recognition of this.

This year we are working really hard to develop a more creative curriculum with more topic based work and themed weeks and days.  This will enhance the children's enjoyment of all subjects and therefore improve their performance.  We have already enjoyed Viking Day in Year 3/4 and Pirate week for the whole school.

  CREATIVE CURRICULUM

As much as possible our curriculum is taught through topics.  Our topics follow the excite, enhance and celebrate learning pathway.  We try to start and end each topic with a memorable event, these include fashion shows, art days, curriculum days or weeks, trips and visitors.  Below are some examples of this.

Victorian Day with Mr Hocking        Chinese New Year Celebrations

Role play during Victorian Day                        Victorian toys

Y1/2 Chinese week, we had the Chinese lion come to visit and made our own dragon to dance in using paper mache and printing techniques.
