Brookhurst Primary School > Year 4

This term we are learning about the Olympics. It is a very special time for the country because it is very rare to have the Olympic Games in your own country. This is the third time the UK has hosted the Olympics after 1908 and 1948. Did you know that London was due to host the Olympic Games in 1944 but it was cancelled due to the 2nd World War?
To find out more about the Olympic Games click here.

We will be learning how to create and present a PowerPoint presentation in ICT as the children bid to be the hosts of our own Mini-Olympics.

In Science we are learning about habitats, plants and electricity.

This year we will be learning to play a musical instrument. We will be learning to play either:

         The Clarinet          or         The flute

School Trips/Outings
We will be looking forward to a day out at the Discovery Centre. We are going to an Olympic workshop.

Just a few reminders:
Homework is set each Wednesday and is due in the following Monday. If there is a good reason why a child has been unable to complete the homework a little note would be appreciated to explain (not a formal letter, just a quick note will suffice!!).

We have our music lessons on a Tuesday afternoon so the children have been asked to bring their instrument in on a Monday so they are already in school ready for the lesson.

We have P.E. on a Monday and Thursday afternoon so children will require a P.E. kit - this must be:
School house top or white t-shirt,
shorts,
pumps.
(although they are allowed jogging bottoms in case they have an outside lesson)
