Educational psychology team

Educational psychologists offer consultation, assessment, intervention, projects, research and training to help schools, settings and parents/carers promote children's development.

The educational psychology team is part of the children's services department and aims to reduce the barriers to play, learning and participation for all children and young people in early years and childcare settings and schools and enhance the psychological well being of all children and young people.  We work with:

  • parents/carers, other agencies, teachers and practitioners
  • schools in training and guidance, for example in reducing bullying
  • groups of children, for example in developing friendships
  • other professionals including health authorities, social care services and voluntary organisations
  • early years settings such as children’s centres,  nursery classes and day nurseries
  • individual children and young people
