Governor News - Mr C Deverell one of our longstanding Parent Governors resigned from his role in January. I would like to thank him for all the work and support he has given to the community as a Governor over many years. You have elected Mr Derek Hillesdon as a new parent governor and I welcome him onto our Governing Body. There is still one vacancy for a parent governor. If any parent is interested in finding out what is involved then please come and speak to me about it, or I can arrange for one of our parent governors to speak to you about the work they do for the school.
School Meals and the Horse Meat Scandal - Cheshire East Local Authority have confirmed to schools that all meat served in Cheshire East’s school dinners is from reputable local suppliers and that there is no horse meat in any of their meat products.
Sensory Room - Work has been in progress on the lower junior corridor to turn a store cupboard into a sensory room. I am hoping that the work will be completed before the Easter holidays. It will be fitted with a variety of interactive equipment that will provide additional experiences to our children of all ages and abilities.
Charity Events - We will be supporting Red Nose Day on Friday 15th March. Staff and children can come to school dressed up as a monster and make a donation to charity. Watch out for staff monsters at the start and end of the day who will be around collecting donations in the playground.
I am very proud of two of our pupils – Matthew Beton and Joseph Deverell who have raised £2,000 for Middlewood Riding for the Disabled by completing a Swimarathon and swimming 40 50 metre lengths in 45 minutes. Well done boys for making this superb effort to help this charity provide 24 disabled children the chance to ride.
Houses – In the next half term we will be competing for the Maths Challenge Trophy and the Handwriting Trophy.
