Stanley School > Curriculum > P.E

All children enjoy physical activity and at Stanley school we are keen to promote, encourage and develop this area using a variety of different P.E and movement activities.
Children at Stanley school experience both structured activities and creative exploratory play opportunities.
In Foundation Stage children gain their initial confidence in physical development through individual play, both indoors and outdoors using a wide variety of equipment.
As the children move into Key Stage 1 they continue to develop physically through guided play activities but also are taught P.E through more structured lessons in the school hall. They wear the school P.E kit which encourages independence in dressing and undressing. Throughout the school year the children are taught Gymnastics, Games and Dance.
Physical skills are developed further in Key Stage 2, through Gymnastics, Games and Dance. Children can also be offered opportunities to attend Sports events at other local schools and take part in intra-school and inter-schools competitions, as appropriate. During the Summer term all Key stage 2 children take part in a concert which showcases their Dance skills.
Throughout the year we are fortunate to have visiting sports coaches from our link secondary schools come into school and offer the children chances to try a wider variety of sports. Coaches from our local football clubs e.g Tranmere Rovers are always popular.
All children at Stanley school are encouraged to be as physically active as possible as part of a healthy lifestyle.
