Government and Politics
 
We currently study Government and Politics to AS level as part of the Option K programme. Two modules are studied leading to an exam in January and June each year.

Thus unit is assessed in a 1 hour 20 minute exam in January and includes the following modules;
 
  • Why is political participation and democracy important?
  • Do elections guarantee democracy?
  • What is the role of political parties?
  • How important are Pressure Groups?
Thus unit is assessed in a 1 hour 20 minute exam in June and includes the following modules;
 
  • What is the nature of the UK Constitution?
  • What is the role and significance of parliament?
  • Who has power within the executive?
  • Do judges deliver justice and defend freedom?
