Government and Politics

We currently study Government and Politics to AS level as part of the Option K programme. Two modules are studied leading to an exam in January and June each year.

Unit 1 - People and Politics Thus unit is assessed in a 1 hour 20 minute exam in January and includes the following modules; Why is political participation and democracy important? Do elections guarantee democracy? What is the role of political parties? How important are Pressure Groups?	Unit 2 - Governing the UK Thus unit is assessed in a 1 hour 20 minute exam in June and includes the following modules; What is the nature of the UK Constitution? What is the role and significance of parliament? Who has power within the executive? Do judges deliver justice and defend freedom?
