Academy consultation

May 2012:

Last term the Governors met to discuss the possibility of The Catholic High School, Chester applying for Academy status.  Following a formal request the Governors have now received permission from Bishop Mark and the Trustees of the Diocese to consult with parents. As part of our detailed exploration we are seeking your views and comments on whether the school should convert to academy status. We are particularly interested in the reasons for your views since they will help governors’ ensure that they have considered all relevant issues. The consultation runs between 10 May and 15 June 2012.

Letters from the Headteacher and Chair of Governors together with a FAQ paper will be available from 10 May to the left of this page to help you understand in more detail what academy status means.

We will be holding two “surgeries” for any parents who would like further information or have particular questions.  These will take place at the school, on Wednesday, 30th May from 4 pm to 5.30 pm, and from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.  All parents are welcome to attend.

Please respond to this consultation either by letter or email consultation@christofidelis.org.uk making it clear whether you support the school’s change to Academy status, are not sure or are against as well as the name of your child.  It would also be helpful if you could include comments which indicate the reasons for your position.  The deadline for the consultation is 6.00 pm on Friday, 15th June 2012.
