Milk and Fruit
All Infant children are provided with fruit in the morning. Your child is allowed to bring a drink (not fizzy) into school or purchase milk. Milk costs £3.50 per half term. A range of fruit is for sale at playtime in the junior playground for 20p. We are trying to encourage healthy eating and therefore unhealthy snacks such as biscuits, chocolate or crisps is only allowed on Fridays. |
The School Bus
There are two bus services that stop at school. Children are eligible for a free bus pass if they live 3 miles or further away from school. For more information about this service please contact: Education Transport Manager Transport Co-ordination Section, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Capita Symonds, Castleway House, 17 Preston New Road, Blackburn. The Walking Bus
We are very lucky to have two walking buses. These leave from The White Horse at the crossroads and in Chapeltown at 8:30 each day. A rota system ensures that there are at least 2 parents to supervise the children. Everyone wears a yellow vest. We are hoping to set up another walking bus from Olives shortly. Please contact Diane Waddington if you are interested in helping. |

Illness
If your child is unwell at school we will contact you through your emergency contact details. It is therefore essential that this is up to date. If your child is unwell before school, please phone school to inform us. If we have not been contacted by 10am we may contact you. All medicines are kept in a safe place at school (asthma inhalers etc). Please try to ensure that these are not past their use by date. If your child needs to apply prescribed creams during school time you may make arrangements for someone to help your child, but we are unable to apply it ourselves. Only prescribed medicines can be administered by staff. You may however, arrange to come into school yourself to give other medicines to your child.

Family Holidays
We would prefer that you take holidays out of school time although we do understand that sometimes this is not possible. If you need to take your child out of school during term time you must complete a 'Request for Leave of Absence' form.
