Welcome to the Year 2 area!
There are three Year 2 classes, these are:
During the school year your child will take part in many different interesting activities as well as daily reading, literacy and numeracy lessons. Many of the lessons will be cross-curricular, this means that they will link with other subjects. Research tells us that learning in this way is more meaningful to the children, therefore they will learn more effectively.
The following people are also involved in your child's education. They are responsible for intervention groups and support children across the curriculum.
Miss Nadine Gandy (HLTA)
||Miss Amy Middlemass|
At certain times of the year we will include additional 'mini topics'which include: science weeks, keeping safe (inc e-safety),
sports week, world football.
One of our topics is MEGASTRUCTURES.
Last year we went on a trip to the Liverpool Anglican and Metropolitan Cathedrals. The children really enjoyed the visits where we watched a short film in the Anglican's 'Assimulator' theatre. After lunch we visited the Metropolitan Cathedral and the children were able to compare and contrast the two buildings.
This learning was further reinforced in school where we viewed photo's and video footage of the buildings to support our topic discussion.
