History and Literacy
Here we are in the summer term where we start with a topic all about Castles. We will be finding out about William the Conqueror who built loads of them around the country, building model castles and acting out ways to defend a castle.
This will link with the Year 2
residential trip to Beeston.
Healthy and Growth is our topic where the children will learn about the importance of eating heathily and staying safe with medicines.
This connects with the science topic with planning healthy menus and making a healthy dish using fruit or vegetables.
Our unit this term is Christian Symbols. We have invited the vicar from All Saints Church to show off his robes and tell us the meaning behind the symbols on them.
In gymnastics, each Monday, we will be following pathways using different shapes and changing heights and speed. Games takes place on Friday afternoon and we will be practising bat and ball skills as well as learning to skip!
Remember that each day your child needs to bring their book bag with their reading book and reading record book so that it can filled in each time they read to an adult in school.
They can change their reading book any day once
it has been read at home.
Quite a few children have earned a number of Reading Certificates for reading at home and we are now creating a 'Rapid Readers' board to celebrate those children who read more than 50, 75, 100 and 150 times at home.
