Facebook Safety - 29 January 2013 - Mrs Pankhania

Facebook Safety

Dear Parent/Carer

The following information has been sent to us from Bolton Council's Children's Department and we would like to bring it your attention.

"It has been brought to our attention that many pupils are visiting a site called 'Video Chat Round’ and ‘Meet Me’ which is downloaded through an APP on Facebook. This site is unsafe and contains inappropriate images and contact with adults. We are quite concerned about this and the impact it has on the safety and well-being of our children".

We would advise parents to discuss this with your son/daughter and take any appropriate action you feel is needed.

We will continue to work with you as parents to ensure the e-safety of our young people.

Yours sincerely

P J Hart
Headteacher

Behaviour for Learning, Behaviour for Life - Mrs Pankhania

Behaviour for Learning, Behaviour for Life

Perhaps the hardest (but most rewarding) job of all is that of being a parent. However, as we all know, kids don't come with an instruction manual! the pace of life, external pressures and media images often make parenting a teenager a challenging job these days.

With this in mind, I am able to offer an opportunity for you to work closely with James Bunting, one of our key workers. James is beginning a parent support group at the Community House on 35, Green Fold Lane, Westhoughton. This will take the form of a coffee morning each Monday where parents can drop in and talk about any tips on parenting in general.

If you feel you would like to meet up with other parents for a coffee and a chat or to share ideas about strategies you use at home then please come along - the more the merrier!
