Receptions visit to Gladstone Pottery Museum - 19 June 2013 - H Grice

On Thursday 13th June the reception children at Mossley visited the Gladstone Pottery Museum. The children had a tour around the  museum with the oppertunity to watch a potter use a pottery wheel to make a vase. They also watched ladies making delcate flowers out of clay and painting vases. Mrs Dale was fascinated and was extremely tempted to buy one.

The children got to have look round the old brick kilns the children were fascinated. We loved going round the museum looking for tiles with pictures of animals on and we even found one with a Hare and Tortoise on. The children then learnt how to make a tortoise out of clay and we brought them back to school. We had such a fantastic day and learnt so much about the history of the Potteries.

Tag Rugby Tournament - 09 May 2013 - H Grice

Tag Rugby Saturday 20th April 2013

Mossley Primary School hosted the annual CPSSA Tag Rugby tournament on a sunny Saturday morning. Ten schools from Congleton took part and the whole event was supported by Congleton Rugby Club. The pool matches were all competitive with some close and tense matches. The children displayed amazing skills and showed an excellent understanding of the game. The pool matches were completed and saw teams going through on try difference. The semis saw Mossley Vikings play The Quinta and Buglawton play Black Firs, these were incredibly close matches and any team could have progressed through to the final. The final saw Mossley Vikings play Buglawton, a tense match with brilliant breakaway tries and super defence finally saw Mossley Vikings emerge as winners. Helen Harrison team coach said “ I am incredibly proud of the team and the way in which they played, they have worked hard for this tournament”  The organisers thanked Congleton Rugby Club for provided match officials and sponsoring the event.

Comic relief red nose day 2013 - 21 March 2013 - H Grice

We have raised a staggering £359.00 Well done everybody

Here at Mossley we raised awareness of red nose day by asking children to come in wearing 80s themed clothing. Each class was asked to design a member of staff’s leggings which they would then model in the afternoon fashion show. We were all really impressed with the children’s efforts and the day turned out to be a great success!

World Book Day - 07 March 2013 - H Grice

World Book Day

The children and staff have enjoyed a day wearing our PJ's for world book day. Our theme was bedtime stories, the children brought in their favourite bedtime reading books and teddies .

We spent the day designing and making books, book covers & book marks. In year 5 Mr Johnson's class they designed "How to" books eg 'How to change your parents into chocolate', 'How to teach an elephant to skip' and 'How to teach a monkey to dance'. Year 2 Miss Smith/Mrs Newport's class made a large class story book.

KS1 Parents were invited to a fun phonics session in the afternoon and were served with tea and cakes.
