Parents' Writing Evenings
This week the staff welcomed parents to two evening workshops explaining the school approach to writing. The areas covered included phonics (Letters & Sounds), handwriting, spelling, types of text (e.g. instructions, recounts) and the way in which the children develop a 'writing voice' through VCOP activities and fortnightly 'Let's Write' sessions. The resources presented at each evening are available to download from the Parents area (click here) - paper copies are also available from the school office.
The staff were impressed with the enthusiasm with which everyone threw themselves into the activities, including Mrs Bland's brain-break warm-up and practising the school's punctuation actions - see the photos below.
