We are extremely proud of our Year 7 Culcheth Eagles team, who travelled all the way to the Institute of Education in London last week, to take part in the Grand Final of this national event.
In a very tense and nail-biting final, we finished in second place, just one point behind the overall winners, Newport Girls' High School. Culcheth led until the final seconds of the competition and were unfortunate not to come away victorious.
From the 4000 students (1000 schools) who entered the competition back in November of last year, Amy, Andrew, Catriona and Rowan are now ranked amongst the Top 40 best spellers in the UK.
The students have been interviewed twice on BBC Radio Merseyside, telling of their experiences in this exciting and nerve-wracking journey.
A massive congratulations to our fantastic Culcheth Eagles team, who have certainly put Culcheth High School on the map!
