Dear Parents/Carers,

We have an increasing number of children in school who suffer from a range of allergies and conditions such as asthma and for whom medications such as inhalers and epipens need to be available at all times.

If these types of long term medication are required, it is the responsibility of parents/carers:

  • to inform the school of the details of their child’s condition as soon as it is diagnosed
  • to inform the school of any changes in their child’s condition
  • to provide the school with associated medication, in a secure container, clearly marked with the child’s name, date of birth and class
  • to ensure that the medication is in date and renewed when necessary

All medications will be returned home at the end of every academic year and will need to be be brought back into school again at the start of the Autumn Term, re-labelled with the new class.

The safety and well-being of your children is paramount to us.

 Yours sincerely,

Mrs H Yeates

7th March 2012

Dear Parents and Carers,

Educational visit to Wacky Woods  – Friday  23rd March

We have organised an educational visit to the Wacky Woods in Adlington on Friday 23rd March for the day. All of the activities the children will take part in at the Wacky Woods, have been planned to link with our ‘Right Royal Rumpus’ topic. We feel the visit will be a very exciting and stimulating experience that will support the children’s work in the classroom.

We will be leaving by coach at 9.00am and will be back at school by 3.10pm. We ask that your child brings a packed lunch in a NAMED disposable plastic bag along with enough drinks for breaks and lunchtime (approximately 2 or 3). There are no indoor facilities at the site and the children will be outside in the woodland area for the whole day, whatever the weather. It is therefore extremely important that your child is warmly dressed in waterproof clothing. School uniform does not need to be worn on this visit. Please ensure your child is dressed in warm layers of clothing with warm trousers and a waterproof coat and hood. Please note clothes and shoes may get very muddy. Due to uneven, muddy surfaces at the Woods, we suggest that children wear stout walking shoes or wellingtons. If they wear wellingtons, please ensure they have two pairs of socks on, as the children tend to get very cold feet in these.

As we will be in a woodland area and activities will involve making things using woodland foliage and resources, please make us aware of any known allergies your child has that we may need to be aware of. We will also be painting with berries (raspberries and blackberries) and toasting marshmallows, so please make us aware if your child cannot touch or eat these.

For this visit we kindly ask for a contribution of £12.50 per child. This sum will help to cover the costs of entry, the guides, the planned activities, resources and the coach hire. Cheques should be made payable to Vernon Primary School.

We will require some adult helpers for the day. Please note you must have a current CRB linked to Vernon Primary School and be enthusiastic to join in with the outdoor activities, leading a group and possibly getting a bit muddy! If you are able to help, please return the form below as soon as possible and we will let you know in due course if we can accommodate you on the coach.

Please sign the permission slip below and complete the contact sheet (Form C) and return it to school no later than Thursday 15th March 2012.

Yours sincerely

Mrs. Sallaway                                Miss Edmonds

Dear Parents/Carers,

Having recently received some very helpful feedback from several of you, as well as our uniform supplier, regarding the current system of uniform ordering, we have carried out an overall review of efficiency and quality of service, from the point of view of everyone involved. As a result, we have decided to trial placing a total order with our supplier, once each half term, rather than placing several individual orders on an ad hoc basis, as we do now.

The date by which orders will need to be placed for this half term is Friday 23rd March 2012. This can be done by completing an order form, which can be obtained from the main office or downloaded from the school website: School Info heading and Letters and Forms from School) and returning the completed form to the main office, for my attention, by the date given above.

We will carry a small stock if you wish to try on any items, if items need to be replaced for any reason, or if we have new starters joining us after the start of the school year.

We shall of course be monitoring the impact of the new system and, as always, I welcome any comments you may have.

Yours sincerely,

Hilary Yeates

Business Manager
