On Wednesday afternoon there was great excitement in the classrooms as the first egg began to crack. If we sat really quietly we could even hear the chick cheeping. |

After about ten minutes the crack widened and the chick began to appear. |

Nearly there! |

Out at last! Looks like another one is on the way. |

"Phew, it's hard work being born! Only one hour old and I'm worn out already!" |  |

After a few hours the chicks were ready to be transferred to the brooder. |
