 Welcome to SHAWCLOUGH SCHOOL 
a busy, lively and very active school.
We have lots going on at school throughout the year and
encourage all children, parents and staff to get involved.
The school is in the north east of Rochdale and
serves a massive and widely varied
catchment area. Our large and spacious school
opened in 1990 catering for 200 pupils but
now has 470 on roll.
The School is set in large grounds, made up of two large
hard play areas - one of which is floodlit.
There are two sports fields and award-winning wooded areas.
There is also an enclosed courtyard that contains
butterfly gardens and wildlife areas.
The building has sixteen large semi-open plan classrooms,
arranged in four units each containing four teaching bases.

• A large sports hall equipped for a range of sports plus changing rooms
• A well developed outdoor play space and large fields
• A separate dining hall, also used for teaching
• A library used by the children during the day and in the evening.
