My name is Mrs Rachael Bagni. I am the Headteacher of Edleston Primary School. I have been Headteacher here for over 7 enjoyable years. This is my third Headship, having previously worked in schools in Warwickshire.
Edleston Primary School is a happy and vibrant place to be. Our children always strive to do their best and in the words of OFSTED [January 2011]; “Edleston Primary is a good school.Pupils’ enjoyment of school is reflected in their enthusiastic response in lessons and their good behaviour. The school is a harmonious community where differences are celebrated and valued”.
We are very proud of our school. We have an ICT suite, an outdoor area for our Reception and KS1 children, a large hall and many areas in the school for group and individual work. Our KS1 classes share a role play area as well as the outdoor classroom and our KS2 classes are all in separate classrooms. We have a Headboy and Headgirl and a number of prefects from our Year 6 class and play buddies from Y5.
We use a themed approach to support our teaching.IQM report [July 2011] stated;“The curriculum is broad and balanced and varied and allows pupils to work towards the aim of a love of learning in a creative and challenging way.Pupils are encouraged to take responsibility for developing their own learning through the target setting process.”
Children have opportunities throughout the year, as a class, to decide which topic they wish to learn and what they want to find out. This encourages children to ask questions and solve problems. We also have excellence and enjoyment afternoons where children choose from a range of activities and get the opportunity to work with children and staff from different classes.
We have guitar and violin lessons and enter numerous sports competitions. We work closely with our pre school and high schools and the local churches.
We offer lots of opportunities for adult learning, including workshops and learning English for our EAL parents. We run a pre-school group every Wednesday and have drop-ins from The Brooks Children’s Centre and Health visitors. Each half term we have a grandparents afternoon. We also hold special open afternoons linked to an area of the curriculum.
We have the most wonderful pupils and staff, so if you like the sound of us please come and visit us!!!
There is a private pre school on our site, so children are able to transfer from the pre school to our reception class easily. There is also before and after school care provided at the same site.
