Welcome to our website. I hope that it gives you something of the flavour of Brine Leas School. We are oversubscribed but still manage to have capacity to enroll students on distance criteria in most year groups. I am very proud of the school and have been here since 1994, becoming Headteacher in 2007. During that time the school has changed, particularly with the addition of BL6, but I think that it still retains the same characteristics of a semi rural school where staff and students enjoy great working relationships and success is seen at every level. Our results go from strength to strength and this was recognized in our last ‘outstanding’ OFSTED inspection. We were in the first cohort of Academy schools but have chosen to stay very close to the National Curriculum.

The school is well resourced for teaching in the twenty first century but we also have traditional values with our uniform and the House system. The school is fortunate in having large playing fields and excellent sports facilities. In addition our investment in ICT and improving classrooms have made a major difference. Great resources do not necessarily mean excellent teaching and learning but they do help. BL6 was completed in 2010 and provides a fantastic environment to study post 16 courses. All students are encouraged to take part in House events and extra-curricular activities. In addition visits abroad through foreign exchanges, ski trips or more exotic destinations such as China are a feature of our annual calendar.
